Modern SuperMoto is one of the fastest growing motorcycle sports in the US today.  The combination road and dirt course adds extra challenges for the riders in choosing machines, tires, and suspension setup.  This is an exciting sport which combines the thrills of roadracing, the jumps of vintage motocross and  the power slide of dirt track racing - all in one race!

The race is being managed by Sandia Motorcycle Roadracing, Inc (SMRI), the local motorcycle roadrace club at Sandia Motor Speedway.

  • Race Classes

We will run one supermoto race each day as part of the roadrace schedule. This is an open class for amateur and expert riders. Cash purse to include half the race entry fees.

  • Registration

Race registration is through the AHRMA registration form; just write in "supermoto".  Racers are encouraged to pre-register but can register on race day.  Pre-registration closes 2 weeks before race day.  Racers must be an AMA racing member.
  • Riders School and Practice Day

SuperMoto riders can participate in the roadrace school.  A new riders school will be held on Friday September 12 at Sandia Motor Speedway.   This is an opportunity for new riders interested in racing to get a racing license on Friday and upon completion of the school to race in the Sandia Classic.  Friday is also a practice day for registered Sandia Classic AHRMA roadracers.  Supermoto racers will have limited practice time on Friday.  Contact SMRI if you have questions on the school, or to signup.
  • Requirements and Regulation

This is an SMRI and AMA sanctioned event and will follow the rules and regulations of these organizations.  Rules and regulations for SuperMoto and details can be found in the SMRI Rule book. Some guidelines to follow from the roadracing requirements include catch bottles for overflow hoses from carb and radiator. Those wishing to race AHRMA classes, such as the Sound of Singles®, will also be required to meet AHRMA road regulations. There are no silencing rules at SMS.
