Dirt Track racing is super exciting for fans with lots of passing and tight wheel-to-wheel action. You won't want to miss this exciting sport and to top it off, the racers will be vying for 10 grand in prize money!

The newly formed New Mexico Dirt track Association (NMDA) will be running the dirt track racing and we've moved back to the excellent facilities on the 3/8 mile oval at Hollywood Hills Speedway with 60' wide straights and 80' wide corners! Hollywood Hills is a jew minutes north of Albuquerque and boasts a world-class facility including RV hookups, race fuel, paved pit parking, full concessions in the pits and stands and clean restrooms! Next door is a convenience store with restaurant, fuel and a full blown casino.

What is Dirt Track or Flat Track?

"Flat track racing takes place on a hard-packed dirt oval or, ideally, a clay track. The bikes are often custom built from production bikes and feature engines mounted on specially designed chassis with lightweight street bike front forks, special shocks in the rear and what's known as a ‘spool’ wheel up front. Similar to a bicycle wheel, the spool wheel has one unique feature – no brakes! On a flat track bike, there are no front brakes. What sets the flat track rider apart from a road racer is the fact that he or she wears a steel (or ‘hot’) shoe on the left boot. Used as an ‘outrigger’ or balance point, the left foot is put down in the corner and skims along the surface of the racetrack helping the rider remain upright."
