2005 Jay Springsteen Fender Stratocaster and the Shirt of Jay's Back

 

Grandma's Music and Sound on the west side of Albuquerque and Chicks Harley-Davidson/Buell raffled a customized Jay Springsteen Fender Stratocaster as part of the Sandia Classic. The guitar art was created by Crazy Horse Painting in North Carolina . The winning ticket was drawn during the 2005 Sandia Classic at the Sandia Motor Speedway west of Albuquerque and included one of Jay's actual race jerseys, a signed number plate, T-shirts, Springer's "30 YEARS OF RACING" book, and other racing memorabilia, all signed and donated by Jay.

Jay was the winner of the American Motorcycle Association Grand National Championships in 1976, 1977 and 1978 and has an active career in in motorcycle racing. He was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2003.

The winner was Mike Azar, a roadracer from Michigan.  The $2500 proceeds were split between the AHRMA Benevolent Fund and a fund for the wife and newborn son of Garrett Iverson.  Garrett, age 22,  who worked for one of our sponsors – Rider Valley Motorcycle -  was murdered on August 18 2005 in Albuquerque along with two police officers, a DOT employee and another employee of Rider Valley Motorcycle.
